Overcoming Panic Attacks
Have you ever sat in a restaurant waiting to place your order when suddenly you feel everyone is staring at you? You suddenly feel a tightening in your chest or an unpleasant feeling forms in your throat. You begin perspiring. All you want to do is get out of there as fast as possible. You have to leave and you have to leave now. You try to take some calming deep breathes, it doesn't help. You try thinking calming relaxing thoughts, nothing seems to help. You have just suffered from a panic attack. The first step in your overcoming panic attacks is to truly recognize you are having panic attacks. This sounds so easy, it almost sounds silly to even mention, but it is truly the first step. One of the hardest things for an individual to do is to look in the mirror and admit to themselves that they do indeed have a problem. Once you have established that you have a problem the next step is to; find the courage and will to face the problem head on. This is often times the point where people fail. Most panic attack sufferers are so afraid of failure that they just don't do anything. You must take action. Without action there is no solution. Without action you will have this problem the rest of your life. This is an absolute key step in overcoming panic attacks. You cannot be afraid to fail. You must have courage and strong will. You must truly want success. You must feel nothing will stop you from succeeding. I cannot stress this point strong enough. You owe this to your family and friends, but most of all, you owe it to yourself. The final step is to find a solution to your problem. The solution must be: workable, affordable, and easy to understand. Solutions to these types of problems are by no means easy or simple. It's not like setting a broken arm, where they put it in a cast, and six weeks later it's all better. The solution for overcoming panic attacks is much more complex. There are several things you can look at. You can see your family practitioner. He probably has a great understanding of medicine but has little or no experience helping people in overcoming panic attacks. You can seek out professional counseling. This is often times very expensive. Many times they are merely using hit and miss techniques until they find something that works for you. Hopefully they find something early in their process before it ends up costing huge sums of money that may or may not be covered by insurance.
